Research and Industry Partnerships
As a innovative, global technology university we have structured vision, values and strategy to drive our success through our many initiatives, faculties and schools.
Research and Innovation
As a university with an established reputation for innovation, Curtin excels in a diverse range of research areas that aim to make tomorrow better for people all over the world.
Our research is broad in scope, encompassing a range of fields in science, engineering, health, society, business and more.
Across all our research areas, we aim to strike a balance between demand-driven research, which solves defined problems for industry and society, and researcher-driven research, which is characterised by a desire to push the limits of understanding.
We conduct research within several institutes, centres and groups that provide the critical mass of expertise needed to translate knowledge into impact. Each of these entities provides a strong academic network for researchers and access to a host of advanced facilities.
95 per cent of our research output was rated at or above world standard in the 2018 Excellence in Research for Australia results.
We maintain strong, collaborative relationships with companies in Australia and around the world to advance teaching and research.
Some of our major partners include BHP, GRDC, Optus, Bankwest, Government of Western Australia, Cisco and Telethon Kids Institute.
Through collaboration, we’re uncovering new knowledge, translating that knowledge into real-world applications and feeding a commercialisation pipeline that enables our discoveries to achieve maximum impact.
We have had more than 1,000 new industry engagements since 2016.
