Conditions and benefits‎

Our people are the key to making our services and environment uniquely Curtin. We value the contribution of our employees by offering a range of employment conditions and workplace benefits which support and develop rewarding careers, healthy lifestyle and work/life balance.

Employment conditions and benefits

In addition to providing a range of benefits and programs as conditions of employment, we offer many lifestyle and financial benefits; from essential services (banking, superannuation and health insurance) to nice-to-haves (shopping, travel and entertainment).

We provide competitive superannuation contributions to our staff of up to 17% via schemes administrated by UniSuper.

Salary packaging is an option available to all employees of Curtin who have either an ongoing or a fixed term contract. Salary packaging allows employees to sacrifice some gross (post-tax) salary in return for services or goods that are charged pre-tax, saving the employee the equivalent tax rate that would be paid on that portion of income.

Recognition

At Curtin, our mission is to 'Transform lives & communities through education & research'. Our employees make this mission a reality through innovation and striving for excellence. We recognise, encourage and reward our staff to deliver on our transformational agenda.

There are many ways we celebrate the significant achievements and milestones of our staff, including Vice-Chancellor Awards and Curtinnovation Awards.

Flexibility at work

Curtin believes in encouraging every employee to enjoy the right work-life balance. We empower our staff to manage their time and work effectively and promote flexible working opportunities and family-friendly policies.

Our flexible work and leave options include paid parental leave for primary caregivers and partners, purchased leave arrangements and technology which supports working remotely.

Health and wellbeing

At Curtin, we care about the health and wellbeing of our staff and support their involvement in a number of health and wellbeing initiatives; including utilising on-campus health services, healthy living seminars, pedometer challenges, flu vaccinations and discounted gym membership and health insurance.

Personal development

We support the professional development and training of our staff through courses, academic promotions, secondments, and our Work Planning and Performance Review (WPPR).

We want to help you grow, succeed and celebrate your achievements; through the provision of a variety of learning and development opportunities. Build your skills and advance your career through study support, on-demand e-learning, coaching and mentoring.
